Deputies report increase in vehicle thefts

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office says it has experienced an unusually high volume of vehicle thefts over the last week.

Nine cars have been reported stolen from Silver Creek Township, Calvin Township, Penn Township, Mason Township, Volinia Township and Newberg Township.

Deputies say the owners left the keys in the vehicles and the vehicles were left unlocked.

The vehicles have been recovered, but items left in the vehicles were stolen.

The sheriff's office wants to remind residents to remove valuables from your car, lock your car and take your keys with you.
