Dr. Seuss Cafe promotes reading

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Thursday, some South Bend students turned their classroom into a reading cafe to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

First-graders at Christ the King School wore Cat in the Hat headbands, bow ties, and aprons, and just like Sam I Am, they served green eggs and ham.

The themed reading party gave kids the chance to read out loud and practice their expressions.

The students practiced their skills by reading 20 minutes a day.

Friday is Dr. Seuss's birthday and National Read Across America Day!
