Dr. Shaq: NBA legend earns doctorate degree from Barry University

MIAMA, Fla. -- Meet Dr. O’Neal.

Basketball great, Shaquille O’Neal earned a doctorate over the weekend.

Looming over the other graduates, Dr. O'Neal received his Ph.D, in education from Miami’s Barry University.

O’Neal dropped out of LSU to play pro ball over 20 years ago. He said it was pretty tough going back to being a student.

“The hardest part was getting back into high school mode,” said O’Neal. “You ever have that high school teacher that says, ‘You've got to read six chapters over the weekend?’ “A lot of times, it was a lot of reading."

Shaq is not done studying as of yet. He said law school is next on the academic agenda.
