Early morning fog reduces visibility

A freezing fog advisory is in effect for many parts of Michiana until 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The advisory took effect the previous night at 11. A freezing fog advisory means that visibility is reduced and also some outdoor surfaces will have a light coat of ice. During the time of the advisory visibility is reduced to less than a quarter of a mile.

This can make driving in these conditions dangerous. If you have to be out on the roads during the early morning hours, use low beam lights. High beam lights actually reflect off of the water vapor and make visibility worse.

It can also be helpful to use the road markings as guidelines. Depending on whatever direction you are traveling, using the right lane as a guide to steer clear of oncoming traffic can help you stay safe.
