Edwardsburg man being treated after moped crash

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – An Edwardsburg man was treated for injuries after he crashed his moped on Walnut Road late Friday night.

Jeffrey Russel, 58, drove northbound on Walnut Road when he lost control of the moped, according to Cass County Sheriff’s office.

Officials said the moped went off the road and crashed in the grass.

Russel was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The injured man was cleared through EMS on the scene but was transported to Borgess Lee Memorial in Dowagiac.

After Russell arrived in Dowagiac, he was transferred to Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the moped crash.
