Eifert wins Mackey Award

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The good news continues to roll in for the Notre Dame football team. Tightend Tyler Eifert won the John Mackey Award.

Eifert becomes the first Notre Dame football player to win the award which is given out to the nation's top tightend. He also becomes the first player to win the award in the same year that his team plays for the National Championship.

Eifert has 44 receptions for 624 yards and four touchdowns this season alone.

He will receive the award at the Home Depot College Football Awards show on Thursday.
