Elkhart County child hit by car getting off school bus

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- An 8-year-old girl is recovering after being hit by a car.

It happened Monday afternoon, while she was getting off of a school bus on State Road 120, just west of County Road 19.

Elkhart County police say the driver could not stop in time. That's when he swerved around the bus, and hit the girl.  

Officers say the 8-year-old was not seriously hurt. The driver was cited for bad brakes.
