Elkhart County court officer injured after discharging firearm

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - An Elkhart County Court Security Officer sustained minor injuries after discharging his firearm at the Goshen Courthouse Wednesday afternoon, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

According to reports, Officer Joshua Troup was in the security office and putting his firearm in his holster when it discharged, hitting him in the foot.

The officer was treated and released from the hospital.

Court proceedings were not interrupted during the incident.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Investigation and Administrative divisions continue to investigate.
