Elkhart County Deputies remind drivers to keep up on tire maintenance

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Elkhart County Deputies used a crash to remind drivers about keeping up

on tire maintenance in the winter.

Deputies say they were called to a crash on County Road 30, west of County Road 9 Thursday morning where they found a van crashed into a utility pole.

The driver told first responders the rear end of the vehicle went out of control.

As deputies inspected the vehicle’s tires, it was discovered that the left rear tire was balding with excessive wear to the outside of the tire.

ECSD said in a Facebook post, “If you have tires that are worn past the wear bars, they must be replaced. It is unsafe to operate a vehicle with similar looking tires in the rain and snow.”
