BRISTOL, Ind. -- On Jan. 7 the Elkhart County Historical Museum announced two new exhibits for 2026 called Everyday People and Everyday Objects and Civics in Action.

The United States will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026 and the two installations are part of a larger portfolio of programs and exhibits to commemorate the event.

Everyday People and Everyday Action is a rotating installation that will introduce new stories and objects each quarter of 2026. This exhibit focuses on people across Elkhart County and their belongings of daily life.

The installation will change every three months, allowing for different profiles throughout 2026.

The second exhibit, Civics in Action, will challenge visitors to think about their roles in the health and wellbeing of their communities.

Each of the Elkhart County Historical Museum’s exhibits will be presented in both English and Spanish.

The Elkhart County Historical Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free.
