Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office unveils new crime tracking program

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Prosecutor’s office unveiled a new program to track crime.

It's an online database. It allows the public to find criminal activity in their neighborhoods.

Most of the police departments throughout the county are on board but it looks like Elkhart isn't interested.

"I don't know enough about their program to know if they can work together or if it would be a second program that we would have to purchase, or something additional that we would have to do," said Laura Koch of the Elkhart Police Department.

Mayor Dick Moore told ABC57 News the city doesn't want to advertise its crime stats on a map.

Middlebury, Nappanee and Goshen are among the departments using the program.
