Elkhart man charged with multiple felony counts of Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material
William Heckaman ELKHART, Ind. -- A 36-year-old Elkhart man was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material on Nov. 6, following a tip regarding an IP address in Elkhart.
Police say an officer and member of the Elkhart Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received and reviewed a tip of possible child sex abuse material connected with an IP address in the city.
The material included with the tip had both videos and still images, some of which police say included children who appeared to be 12 or younger.
On Nov. 6, EPD officers executed a search warrant for all electronics devices at the home of William Heckaman in the 300 block of S. Elkhart Avenue.
Heckaman was booked into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges.
The Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office then filed formal criminal charges against.
Heckaman is charged with Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material, a Level 5 Felony, Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material, a Level 5 Felony, Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material, a Level 5 Felony, and Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material, a Level 6 Felony.
Heckaman's bond was set at $35,000 surety. He has since posted bond.
