Elkhart man sentenced to 60 months for Possession of Ammunition

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After pleading guilty, an Elkhart man has been sentenced to 60 months in prison by a U.S. District Court judge for Being a Convicted Felon in Possession of Ammunition.

Steven Lerma III, a 25-year-old man of Elkhart, Indiana, was found in possession of a handgun with a magazine extended to hold 32 rounds of ammunition, according to documents in the case.

Having previously been convicted of Felony Theft of a Firearm and Felony Domestic Battery Resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury, Lerma was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.

Lerma was sentenced to 60 months in prison, followed by 18 months of supervised release.
