A quick punch of snow and cold
ELKHART, Ind. -- Dozens of seniors had the chance to travel back to an entirely different era on Saturday at Elkhart Place Assisted Living.
Staff at Elkhart Place worked for months to set up a "Senior" Prom for the residents, who got all dressed up and had the chance to get out on the dance floor.
For many residents, it was their first prom in more than 60 years, and the first time in decades that some of them had the chance to get put on fancy clothes.
The "Under the Stars" prom went from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and featured music exclusively of the 20th century with a big focus on the 1950s and 60s.
For one resident, Carol Rohrer, a prom for those only 65 and up is better than the one she went to in high school!
"It's been about eight years since I could get dressed up and go out so this is special." said Rohrer.
Organizers say that with the success of the event, they plan to bring the event back bigger and better in 2024.
