Elkhart Salvation Army not hosting Thanksgiving meal in 2022
ELKHART, Ind. - The Salvation Army of Elkhart will not host a Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day this year in order to distribute resources differently during the holiday season.
The decision is in response to an increased need for food among community members over the past few months and in anticipation of increased food insecurity in the coming months.
This year, the Salvation Army is partnering with Faith Mission of Elkhart to provide a Thanksgiving Day meal at Faith's facility for shelter residents, home deliveries, and walk-ins.
The Salvation Army will also increase its food distribution throughout November at its food pantry at 300 N. Main St.
Finally, the organization will increase how much food it distributes to families in need during Christmas.
