SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- The city of South Bend hosted an "Empowerment Fair" to honor Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy on Monday. City leaders held a peace rally and march and organizations offered information and services to empower those living in the area.
"It’s very important, seeing a lot of young people out here, especially what’s going on in the city all the shootings and gun violence and stuff, so it’s actually pretty important to be out here today," said Savionne Edwards who attended the event.
Some of the festivities included a talent show and spoken word performances by local artists.
Attendees were even able to enjoy free hair cuts, manicures, and massages thanks to the Inspiration School of Beauty and Culture.
