Ex-paramedic arrested for allegedly stealing vials of Fentanyl

FISHERS, Ind. – An ex-paramedic accused of stealing several vials of Fentanyl from various fire departments, was arrested Monday night.

According to Indiana State Police, troopers picked up the investigation after learning the crime spanned many jurisdictions.

An investigation was opened on May 30th when the Greenwood City Fire Department reported a theft.

Troopers say it was discovered that at least 34 vials of Fentanyl, an opioid used to treat pain, were stolen from various fire departments in five counties.

The man accused of the thefts, 41-year-old Jason Howard of Fishers, was a paramedic for SEALS Ambulance Service.

The Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office charged Howard with two counts of possession of narcotics and two counts of theft.

Probable cause affidavits were being reviewed in the four remaining counties. Charges have not yet been filed in those counties.
