Fans in Elkhart pile in the Lerner Theater to watch the BCS Championship

ELKHART, Ind. --  From the Chrystal Ballroom to the theater, fans in Elkhart were fired up for the Fighting Irish.

Two of those fired up fans were Nelson Miller and his 7-year-old son Peyton.

Miller has been rooting for the blue and gold for a long time.

“Since 19... mid-eighties," said Nelson Miller.

So he could not wait to share his love of the Irish at the Lerner Theater with his number one fan, his son Peyton.

“I just felt like this was an awesome experience, a once in a lifetime experience for my son and I," said Miller.

The Millers were not alone. Hundreds of people piled into the theater to watch the Irish fight for the BCS Championship.

“I live two blocks away and I thought I would enjoy it more with some fans," said Willie Tyler.

Hundreds more huddled up in the ballroom and ate.

“Pulled pork, hot dogs, there was homemade guacamole, salad," said Dawn Ford.

Some of those fans came to view the big screen because they simply did not have cable.

“We don’t have satellite so we couldn’t get ESPN, so it seemed like a cool place to watch the game," said Siiarra Greenawalt.

But whatever the reason for these fans coming together at the Lerner Theater to watch the big game, they all have one thing in common. They want to see the Irish take home that BCS trophy.
