UPDATE: Coroner's office reveals identity and cause of death in fatal Elkhart house

ELKHART, Ind. -- UPDATE: The Elkhart County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of the house fire at 139 Superior Blvd. as 75-year-old Gregory “Greg” Ciesnicki.

The county coroner revealed the cause of death as Carbon Monoxide poisoning and inhalation of products of combustion.

The office revealed the manner of death was accidental.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Elkhart Fire Department was called out to 139 Superior Blvd at approximately 4:00a.m Saturday morning due to reports of a fire in the back of the house. The Elkhart Fire department began putting out the fire from the back and making their way to the front and searching for any occupants.

One occupant was found and immediately removed from the house and taken to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased a short time later.

The Elkhart fire Department was able to successfully put out the fire and once an investigation was completed the EFD left the scene.
