Indiana woman charged with making threats against President Trump

Nathalie Rose Jones

LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The United States Department of Justice reports Nathalie Rose Jones of Lafayette, Ind. has been charged with Threats against President and Successors to the Presidency and Threatening Interstate Communications after members of the US Secret Service observed threatening comments regarding President Trump on social media.

Official government documents reveal the Secret Service observed an Instagram user account known as “nath.jones” had posted threatening comments about Trump between Aug. 2 and 9.

Authorities say this included publicly accessible posts that called for the President’s removal, labeled the President as a terrorist, referred to the President’s administration as a dictatorship, and stated the President caused extreme and unnecessary loss of life regarding COVID-19.

From on or about Aug. 6, until on or about Aug. 15, law enforcement say they also observed a Facebook user account known as “Nath Jones” had posted threatening comments about the President.

Authorities say this included publicly accessible Facebook posts that called for the President’s administration to be removed and requested the President be arrested as a “terrorist.”

In a Facebook post dated Aug. 6, Jones made a post which included, "Here's where we are: I literally told FBI in five states today that I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present and you did not come to my home this way at all. Let's deal with this and restore domestic tranquility."

On or about Aug. 15, members of the Secret Service conducted a voluntary interview with Jones, during which she stated that the President was a “terrorist” and “nazi,” and if she had the opportunity, she would take the President’s life and would kill him at “the compound” if she had to.

Jones informed authorities on Aug. 15 that she had no present desire to harm the President. She also admitted to making the online threats and confirmed she was the owner of the Facebook account, "Nath Jones."

Jones was apprehended on Aug. 16.
