SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Father Theodore Hesburgh's funeral services begin Tuesday with a visitation open to the public. The funeral mass will be held Wednesday and is invitation only.
After the funeral there is a memorial service open to the public for all to remember Father Hesburgh's legacy.
“He is the heart and soul of Notre Dame. So everyone knew of him even if you didn't know him personally. But just a tragic loss, there will never be another Father Ted. He did so much for this university and I think the main thing people will remember is him being so connected from the student,” says Diana Rakoczy, Sacred Heart parishioner.
The memorial service open to the public is a walking procession starting at the Basilica and ending at the Campus Cemetery. The walking procession is expected to start around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
