Fire Department and Police Battle on the Field

They’re used to teaming up for work, but this weekend, it was the police against the fire department. The first responder agencies took to the baseball diamond on Saturday at the Cove. One police officer told ABC 57 News he was excited to take on the firefighters in a round of America’s favorite pastime.
“I love it. It’s a good idea. Guys get to have a good time, both the fire department and the police department,” First Class Uniform Patrolman Chris Bortone said. “It’s a good event for everyone to have some fun and play some baseball.”
This is the first year the city agencies have gone head to head in a public baseball game in several years. They hope to bring it back as an annual tradition.
