Fire destroys party store in Benton Township

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Quik-Way Party Store in Benton Township was destroyed by a fire Thursday morning, according to the Benton Township Fire Department.

Firefighters were called out to the scene, at the corner of South Fair and Highland avenues, at 5:28 a.m.

When crews arrived, they were met with heavy flames coming from the roof of the building. The store was a near total loss when personnel arrived.

By 5:40 a.m., the building had collapsed from the damage.

Firefighters were able to get the flames suppressed by 10:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

A building next to the store received slight damage to its siding.

Police are still investigating the fire's cause and where in the building it started.

The Benton Township Fire Department was assisted by Benton Harbor emergency responders.
