Fire prevention week kicks off

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --Fire prevention week officially starts Sunday and even with the temps dropping fires are still something we need to worry about.
The theme for this year's fire prevention week is "Have Two Ways Out".
Mishawaka Fire Department is heading up this year's safety awareness program.
They say when fire strikes your home can become engulfed in flames within minutes.
So they say it's important to have multiple plans of action.
But as a general precaution to keep your family safe they have a few helpful tips:
- Test your smoke detectors monthly
- Practice your escape plan
- Stay low and go
