Fire station to be renamed in honor of fallen Goshen EMS Chief Bruce Nethercutt Friday

EMS Chief Bruce Nethercutt

GOSHEN, Ind. -- The City of Goshen announced it will rename Fire Station 3 as the Nethercutt Memorial Station in honor of EMS Chief Bruce Nethercutt, who passed away from occupational cancer.

Nethercutt is the only recognized line-of-duty death in the history of the Goshen Fire Department, officials said.

The city invites the community to a public dedication ceremony on Friday at 3 p.m. at Fire Station 3, located at 1203 College Ave.

After the ceremony, the station will host an open house for attendees to tour the facility, share memories, and reflect on Nethercutt’s legacy.

Nethercutt was House Captain at Station 3 for several years where city officials say his leadership and mentorship had a profound impact on those who worked alongside him.

His name is inscribed on the Indiana Fallen Firefighters Memorial Wall in Indianapolis and the International Association of Fire Fighters Memorial Wall in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Parking for the ceremony will be available across College Avenue at Greencroft, along 16th Street, and at the strip mall just east of the station.
