Starke County face-to-face with severe weather
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Fire Department reports crews responded to a housefire in the 1000 block of Woodward Avenue around 9:20 p.m., Wednesday.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story home with a fire in the basement.
Crews then began a search of the home while attacking the fire.
Fire officials say the fire spread into the walls and attic of the home.
The residents, along with one of their dogs, made it out of the home safely.
The second dog was also rescued and was provided medical care on scene.
Fire officials say two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Officials say the fire was under control in about an hour.
The fire's cause is under investigation.
