Fireworks can be dangerous in dry conditions

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- It only takes seconds. And setting off fireworks in these dry conditions can be dangerous.

Seconds after Clay Fire Marshall Dave Cherrone lit up a firework, the sparks started several small grass fires.

Even as several area counties are under burn bans, firefighters are urging citizens to take precautions if you want set off fireworks this Fourth of July.

They suggest that you water the grown first and keep a hose nearby.
