Five $5000 grants available to Indiana filmmakers

LIFT Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS -- Applications opened Thursday for five $5,000 grants for Indiana filmmakers to create five-minute short films with uplifting stories centered on Hoosiers.

LIFT, a new grant and mentorship program for Indiana filmmakers, was announced Thursday, asking for Hoosier filmmakers to apply for the $5,000 grants with proposals for short films under five minutes featuring stories of Hoosiers working to support and strengthen their communities.

The five selected filmmakers or filmmaking teams will have two months, from April 15 to June 15, to complete their chosen films.

Alongside the $5,000 grants, the awarded filmmakers will also receive mentorship opportunities from LIFT's partner organizations.

The films will premiere at Heartland Film's Indy Shorts Film Festival in July and will be shared online through a media partnership with Free Press Indiana.

Heartland Film and Free Press Indiana are two of LIFT's partner organizations, alongside Hoodox and Indiana Humanities.

Applications for the $5,000 grants are due by 11:59 p.m. EST on March 15.

You can find more information on what is required for your application and short film on the LIFT website.
