NOW: Former Berrien County deputy sentenced in theft from Niles nonprofit charged in Indiana

MISHAWAKA, Ind. - A former Berrien County sheriff’s deputy already fired from his job is now facing more criminal charges, this time in Indiana.

ABC57 confirmed Trent Babcock of Niles and his wife are accused of stealing from a Sam’s Club store in Mishawaka back in April.

The couple allegedly walked out with $250 dollars in items they didn't pay for.

Then-Lieutenant Trent Babcock was fired by the Berrien County Sheriff's Office for stealing from the Niles Walmart back in 2017.

In 2022, Babcock pleaded guilty to taking $11,000 from a non-profit wrestling club he ran in the Niles area. Babcock spent 30 days in jail for that incident.
