GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Goshen Police Department reports an officer responded to a domestic call at a residence in the 1600 block of 10th Street on July 30 just before 8 p.m.

Hernandez was in court Thursday where he was appointed a public defender and pleaded not guilty. He's due back in court Sept. 17.
Police say they arrived at the residence on July 30 to find two women and a man on scene. Authorities noted one of the women was crying. The crying woman was identified as the victim in this incident.
The victim didn't speak English, so the man on scene translated what she told police.
The victim explained she was in her home when the suspect, identified as Hernandez, entered and hit her in the face before leaving in a black Escalade-like vehicle.
As police were speaking with the victim, a black Chevy Tahoe started to drive west through the alley, at which point, the man translating the victim's statement pointed the vehicle out, saying Hernandez was in it. Police attempted to get the Tahoe to stop but it kept driving.
The officer on scene then got into his squad car and drove toward the Tahoe to attempt a traffic stop.
The Tahoe then backed into a driveway on S 10th Street, at which point Hernandez exited the front passenger side and ran east between two homes on 11th Street. The officer then made chase and tackled Hernandez when he stopped for a moment.
The arresting officer stated he could smell alcohol on Hernandez. Hernandez was then searched, during which time a Republica De Honduras passport was found in the front left pocket of his jeans, confirming his identity.
When later interviewed at a local hospital, the victim stated Hernandez had been drinking all day.
The victim said Hernandez had entered her home and told her he was going to hit her. She said she put her hands over her face at that time before he punched her with his right hand.
Documents state his fist hit the victim below her left eye, which caused a bump to form on her cheek. The victim then added that after she was punched, Hernandez told her he was going to kill her and throw her into a garbage can. She said that's when he pushed her into a wall where she struck her head.
The victim was treated at the hospital for her injuries.
