Forty-year-old Mishawaka man charged with multiple counts of Child Molesting
David Bakuwa MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police Department reports on Monday the Warrants Division located 40-year-old David Bakuwa in the 200 Block of Newburg Court in Mishawaka.
The St. Joseph County Special Victims Unit assisted and Bakuwa was arrested and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail.
Bakuwa was wanted in St. Joseph County for two counts of Child Molesting, Level 1 Felonies, and Child Molesting-Fondling or touching with child under 14, a Level 4 Felony.
Bakuwa's initial hearing is scheduled for Nov. 7.
Documents from St. Joseph Superior Court reveal the Mishawaka Police Department responded to the St Joseph Regional Medical Center Forensic Department on Oct. 15 regarding a 9-year-old who said they were raped by a reported family member earlier that evening.
The victim was given a sexual assault exam, during which they stated Bakuwa took them to his house in Mishawaka after church.
The victim told police Bakuwa wanted to show them his decorations and give them a massage.
The victim stated Bakuwa massaged them and performed sexual acts on them in his bedroom.
Bakuwa allegedly took the victim's and his own clothes off during the incident.
The victim said Bakuwa also used his cell phone to take pictures of their genitals.
The victim was able to use their phone to send their mom a text stating that Bakuwa was "massaging me weird." The victim's mother confirmed seeing this message and immediately called the victim, but Bakuwa answered the phone.
The victim's mother then called Bakuwa's neighbor and asked them to go get the victim from his home. The mother arrived at Bakuwa's home to find he had left the area.
The victim described Bakuwa's bedroom and when detectives executed a search warrant, confirmed the accuracy of the description.
