Franchise managing partner ‘surprised & disappointed’ after former Bar Louie GM Accused of Embezzling thousands
GRANGER, Ind. — A managing partner of Bar Louie in Granger says the local hot spot is not going anywhere despite allegations involving a former longtime employee.
The Bar Louie Franchise in Granger recently celebrated five years at its current location in Granger after more than a decade at University Park Mall. Managing partners told ABC57 over the phone Monday, it is the number one location in sales in the history of the brand & new management is doing great.
Andrew Phillips, the former general manager, is accused of embezzling more than $140,000 from the franchise.
Phillips was terminated in April for unrelated reasons after spending 17 years with the brand, including nine as general manager.
An internal investigation began shortly after when accounting discrepancies emerged.
An internal audit then revealed nearly $140,000 missing.
Court records show Phillips allegedly diverted more than 160 ATM deposits into his personal bank account between May 2023 and April 2025.
Those deposits reportedly totaled more than $170,000.
In addition, more than 60 deposits were allegedly never made.
Phillips is now facing a charge of theft of property valued at more than $50,000.
ABC57 attempted to reach Phillips for comment, and was unable to get a hold of him
