Free sandbags in Michiana

These are the locations where residents can get sandbags in case of flooding. They are free, but in most cases you will be given a bag and will have to fill it with sand yourself. You will also need to bring a shovel.

Kosckiusko County, Indiana


Kosciusko County Highway Garage: Sand and bags are available outside the fence at the Kosciusko County Highway Garage northeast of Warsaw on Old Road 30. You will need to bring your own shovel and manpower to fill and transport the sandbags.



North Webster Community Center: Sand and bags are available at the south end of the North Webster Community Center. You will need to bring your own shovel and manpower to fill and transport the sandbags.


Marshall County, Indiana

The Marshall County Commissioners and Emergency Management Agency have made sand and sandbags available for those who need it. The materials are located at 9515 King Road in Plymouth (first building north of the Marshall County Highway Department). You will need to bring your own shovel.


LaGrange County, Indiana

Sandbags will be available for LaGrange County residents on North Walnut St. in LaGrange. You may also contact your local Fire Department and some of them will have bags but not sand. The sand will be at the North Walnut St. location. There will be shovels and bags outside, but you will need to fill the bags yourself.


Fulton County, Indiana

Sandbags and sand have been positioned at the Aubbeenaubbee Township Fire Department in Leiters Ford, IN 46945-0632. Please contact that Department for further information. Please bring your own hand tools (shovels) and means to transport sandbags.


LaPorte County,  Indiana

LaPorte County Highway Department, located at 1805 5th St. in LaPorte, will be placing a large pile of sand and a pallet of sandbags outside of the gate. This will be ready for those in need after 12:00 pm (CST) Friday. We encourage those needing these supplies to bring your own shovel or scoop, as those will not be provided. If the issue requires a larger amount of sand than what is available, contact LaPorte County Emergency Management at:
