Frost forecast for Saturday morning

Most of Michiana will dip into the 30s Saturday morning, only the lake shore region may hold in the lower 40s.

A widespread hard frost is not likely, but any frost could still cause damage to plants. Gardeners especially, this is not a killing freeze. There is good reason to take protective action and cover your plants Friday night, temperatures are forecast to return to the 60s next week.

The most likely areas to see frost will be outlying open areas away from Lake Michigan. The low and open US-30 corridor is always prone to cooler overnight lows. Cities and plants close to buildings are less prone to a frost, as urban areas and buildings tend to hold enough heat to keep above a frost temperatures.

The attached map shows Forecast Track temperatures for Saturday morning. Areas forecast for 36° or colder will be most prone to frost.
