Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana chosen for NASA program

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana has been selected to be a part of a weeklong intensive space science workshop held by NASA. GSNI-M is one of 10 scout councils to be chosen.

The scout council will head to the Goddard Space Flight Center in June for the Reaching for Stars – Girl Scout Astronomy Club Training.

The program will include presentations from NASA scientists, lab tours, hands-on activities, and observations with a robotic telescope.

Once the training concludes, the girls of GSNI-M will be required to create a sustainable Astronomy Club in Michiana. Each team will even receive up to $1,000 for club-related purchases.

The teams are made up of two high school Girl Scouts, one GS volunteer and one amateur astronomer.

The GSNI-M team for the 2018 training is Elizabeth Nestle, Elise Voglewede, and Erin Nestle.
