Gold coin in the red kettle, generous donation to Salvation Army

One red kettle in Mishawaka received its golden ticket, or more appropriately, golden coin.

Wednesday, bells were ringing and people were donating.

One donation came with a $100 bill and a small note with a special golden coin inside.

“It's awesome that people are willing to give so generously number one, but it's also fun that they make it fun for everyone else. We can announce, we've received a gold coin, you know, send the message they want to send, and show the community that they're supporting, It's just awesome,” said Major Monty Wandling, senior Kroc officer at the Kroc Center.

The Salvation Army wants to remind you, they’ve gone digital.
