GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Goshen Fire Department was called to Linway Plaza after a fire started in the back of a dump truck.
Firefighters responded off of Lincoln Avenue just before 7:15 a.m. Wednesday. The driver of the truck first noticed a fire coming from the dump body. They then dumped the trash onto a nearby parking lot, per protocol, to prevent further damage to the truck.
When firefighters arrived, they covered storm drains before spraying the trash to prevent contamination. After more than 1,000 gallons of water, the fire was put out just before 8:30 a.m.
The trash company which owns the truck is expected to collect the trash to be taken to a landfill.
