Hardworking nominees gather for Michiana's 55 Plus Volunteer Awards

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- We all know how important it is to give back when you can.

In Michiana, great things are happening in our communities due to the hard work of volunteers.

Wednesday night, some of the hard workers were honored at the TCU Michiana 55 Plus Volunteer Awards.

Ed Lind was awarded the top honor. Lind at one point volunteered over 100 hours a month, which included transporting residents to and from therapy appointments, calling bingo games, and just finding a way to help out at any special event possible.

”My parents taught us to be responsive, to others especially,” said Lind.  “I have always been surrounded by great neighbors, pretty much senior people.  They have been good to me and it’s just natural for me to return.”
