Heroin in Michiana

Prosecutor Amy Cressy says when she started working on drug cases in St. Joseph county about 8 years ago, it was rare to see a case involving heroin reach her desk, but that has drastically changed.

25-year-old Juliette Vann was arrested November 14th, and has been charged with: dealing heroin, possession of heroin and maintaining a common nuisance.

Her case is all too familiar to Cressy.

She says close to half of her caseload is now heroin related because Northwest Indiana is close to Chicago making the drug cheap.

The drug has become more pure since the 70's, and this is not just a problem here but throughout the country.
