ABC 57

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the intersection of C.R. 7 and C.R. 4 around 6:50 p.m., Monday, for a two-vehicle crash.

Authorities say it was raining at the time and the roadway's surface was wet.

The report states a 2014 Toyota RAV4 was traveling north on C.R. 7 approaching the intersection with C.R. 4.

At the same time, a 2021 Subaru Outback, driven by a 31-year-old Elkhart woman, was traveling east on C.R. 4 approaching the intersection with C.R. 7.

The Outback came to a stop at the four-way stop intersection before continuing through, having the right of way.

The RAV4 continued through the intersection, failing to yield the right of way, before striking the rear passenger side of the Outback.

The RAV4 spun around in the intersection, coming to a stop facing west.

The Outback came to a stop in the middle of the intersection.

Authorities say the unknown driver and two passengers of the RAV4 fled the scene before deputies arrived.

The 31-year-old Elkhart woman suffered a possible broken arm/shoulder.
