Hively Avenue overpass project to begin construction in late March

City of Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. -- The City of Elkhart announced the Hively Avenue Overpass project is set to begin construction in late March with an expected completion date of November 2027.

City officials say the project will carry traffic over the Norfolk Southern Railroad and nearby roads, reducing congestion and making daily travel more efficient for residents, businesses, and emergency vehicles.

The project is set to include two travel lanes, ADA-compliant sidewalks, and a multiuse path for pedestrians and cyclists.

The project is part of ASPIRE Elkhart, series of transformational investments launched by Mayor Rod Roberson's administration.

The initiative's approach is described by officials as focusing on quality-of-place projects and neighborhoods while upgrading infrastructure and public safety to support a vibrant community for generations to come.
