SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Black History Month is being celebrated by students at Holy Cross Elementary School in South Bend today.
They welcomed Notre Dame's executive chef Calvin Metts who prepared lunch for all 400 students and teachers.
The principal at Holy Cross Annie Borjas tells ABC57 that the school celebrates all February long with various speakers visiting different grade levels.
And Chef Metts' visit is an annual occurrence is one that students very much look forward to.
"It's just a great way to celebrate who we are at Holy Cross and bring the school community together in a way that that celebrates our diversity," Borjas added.
Today's festivities were a culmination of their Black History Month celebrations.
Chef Meets whipped up an African spiced chicken from Ethiopia, along with the main kid staples like mac and cheese.
