COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- For fear of house fires one man in Colorado built a house using treated lumber meant to be fire retardant.
The creator said if a fire breaks out it might smolder but it would not ignite like regular lumber.
Firefighters say when it comes to the dangerous embers, this new kind of technology will help.
"There's still no guarantee. Does it help give the house a fighting chance? Absolutely and that's what we're looking for. A situation where that house can defend itself or resist ignition," said Kris Cooper, deputy fire marshal.
The creator says it is not just about protecting homes but first responders too.
