MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office announced the impound of two horses posing a public safety hazard, with the owner being charged with Animal Cruelty.
Court documents reveal deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department have responded to over 35 service calls involving two horses in the 6500 block of Plymouth-Laporte Trail.
Deputies corralled the loose horses and returned them to their owner, Jennetta Nickerson, multiple times.
Authorities say most occurrences involved the horses being in a public roadway, posing serious danger to motorists.
The two horses have been impounded and will be evaluated by the State Veterinarian and if determined to be in jeopardy, the animals can be confiscated.
Nickerson has been charged with Cruelty to an Animal and Animals Running at Large in Marshall County Superior Court 2.
