Hot and humid for the Fourth of July, highs peak near 90, the heat index nears 100. Pop-up showers and storms will bring isolated rain in the afternoon, clearing in time for fireworks. Thursday an approaching cold front will bring more widespread storms, some could be strong with heavy rain and gusty wind. The heat and humidity breaks for the weekend.
