Hundreds attend candlelight vigil for 7-year-old Kristyana Jackson

ELKHART, Ind. -- Hundreds gathered on Kilbourn Street for a candlelight vigil for 7-year-old Kristyana Jackson Monday night.

Kristyana and her father were shot last week in a home invasion. She died at Memorial Hospital Sunday.

“You cannot imagine, she and I were only two days apart and this is going to be long, long road,” said Kristyana’s grandmother, Barbara Lamb.

Lamb wept saying how much she will miss little Kristyana and mentioned how beautiful inside as she was out.

“She was given an award at school for not letting anyone bully the younger kids,” said Lamb.

While Kristyana’s mother and father cried out from the pain of the loss of their daughter, Kristyana’s Aunt begged anyone with information to come forward.

Lamb said the death of her granddaughter was senseless.

“That was cold-blooded murder there was no reason for them to do what they did if they wanted money, they should have took my daughters purse and have been on their way," said Lamb.

And she has some pretty harsh words for whom ever killed her granddaughter 7-year-old Kristyana.

“I hope they get the death penalty.”

There will be a car was at Lucky’s Auto at 11 a.m. this Sunday to help the family with funeral costs.
