Hundreds of homes damaged in southern tornadoes

While Michiana saw our first snow fall overnight Monday, down South they dealt with powerful tornadoes.

At least a dozen tore through the southeast from Mississippi to Georgia. Hundreds of homes were damaged.

The December storm took many by surprise.

"It was real scary. Everything was just flying around,  just tossed around," said Mayor Harold Rideau, Baker, Louisiana.

The Northern Plains had to dig out from massive snowfall. They got a month's worth of snow in one day.

Some cars were buried in snow, others were towed because they got in the way of the emergency vehicles.
