Hundreds protest ending Saturday mail delivery

MICHIGAN — Michigan postal workers and members of the community are protesting the end of Saturday mail service.

They said losing mail Saturday delivery will lead to more deep cuts to the postal service.

Those protesting also said that senior citizens, small businesses, and rural areas will be the hardest hit.

The Government Accountability Office said the post office is legally bound to deliver mail on Saturdays.

The U.S. Postal Service is facing rising deficits.

And the move to cut Saturday delivery is expected to save $2 billion a year.
