MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Local residents gathered at the intersection of Mckinley and Grape near Representative Yakym's office to protest DHS and ICE's treatment of US citizens and immigrants.
The protesters are calling for Yakym to speak out against recent DHS actions and rhetoric and were criticizing the Trump administration's aggressive immigration enforcement, citing disregard for civil rights, inhumane detention conditions, and the use of force.
They argue that Yakym's office aligns with these policies and challenges the representative to distance themselves from them.
