Illinois man sentenced to 75 years for murders of two South Bend men

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - An Illinois man was sentenced to 75 years in prison in connection with the murders of Malik Balderos and Ricky Kinds in October 2020, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Tyrik Rayford, 24, was sentenced to 55 years for murder and 30 years for conspiracy to commit murder.

These two sentences will be served concurrently.

His guilty charge for a firearm enhancement added 20 years to the sentence, which will be served consecutively to the first two.

Rayford was found guilty in March of killing 21-year-old Balderos and 20-year-old Kinds.

The two were shot near the Waterford Glen Apartments on October 22, 2020.
